Commentary on the state of US airlines

From my not inconsiderable flying experience, United is THE worst major airline in the US. The state of their fleet is shameful and their service sucks. In the already dismal landscape of the steadily declining American airline industry, United still manages to stand out with the filthy and smelly cabins, food one would be sued for trying to feed to animals, uncomfortable, broken down seats and terrible entertainment systems. I've been avoiding them for years and the last two trips I took with them (China and CA) reminded me why. Not that I am particularly fond of any of the other domestic options.
