We are stuck with technology when what we really want is just stuff that works. How do you recognize something that is still technology? A good clue is if it comes with a manual. (Douglas Adams)
Oh, please. My recently acquired water filter came with a manual. And I even made an attempt to read it. Or rather I wanted to read it because for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to take the cover off the damn thing. Unfortunately, some brilliant individual placed the manual ... (yeah, I bet you already guessed it and are happily laughing at me) under the above mentioned cover! N. and I spent about five minutes trying to pry the thing open. When we, two engineers!, finally managed to extract the cover, I promptly threw away the manual. Turned out it didn't have the answer to the only question I was interested in by that point: what dumb incompetent idiot designed the cover that would fit flush with the bucket and didn't provide any means of pulling it free.
