Oct. 7th, 2009 11:11 pmNow that Apple officially admitted to buying a nightstand to separate their bed from Google's and the divorce proceedings seem to be well underway, Verizon is stepping in to partner with Google. According to yesterday's announcement, Verizon Wireless will start selling first Android phones within the next few weeks. They promised two devices for this year, with more to come in 2010. On top of adding Android to its line up Verizon also committed to allowing Google Voice as one of the apps available to the users, showing they learned something from the tiff Apple and ATT just had with FCC. To make things interesting during the announcement Eric Schmidt (Google's CEO) and Lowell McAdam (VzW CEO) were spotted holding Verizon branded phones. One looked like an HTC Hero, which might be renamed and customized for VZ, and is the first to be launched. Second device, with a later ETA, might be from Motorola.
I, personally, am not a big fan of either device maker. Everything I've seen so far from HTC has been awful, both in terms of design and usability. Very easy to hack, though.
