FiOS in Boston

Меня недавно спросили, почему в Бостоне до сих пор не провели FiOS, в отличии от многих прилегающих городков. Пожалуйста, возможный ответ:

How about sf bay area? I've been waiting for years for a cheaper and better alternative to Comcast internet. It is fucking ridiculous, you know, I pay $65/mo for shitty 6mbps down, frequent outages, and poor customer service and the only other option is DSL (which is not an option for me since I don't have a land line).

Don't know if it's still the case but, as far as I know, originally it wasn't our home state, we didn't offer phone service there. That makes it a lot harder to bring in new services, because infrastructure has to be built from scratch. If somebody determined that uptake will not compensate the expense of deployment...
