Unusual creations
Mar. 2nd, 2009 06:44 pmWent out to dinner last week with a vendor. He told us that as part of a father/son cub scout activity he had to bake a theme-based cake over the weekend. Theme was decades (as in 70s, 80s, etc.). He was given the 90s. After some research he settled on the "Titanic" as his inspiration. (We did tell him that the signature event of the 90s was, in fact, Bill Clinton and his cigar or Monica with a blue dress but he didn't think 7-year-olds would go for that sort of thing). Today he forwarded us a picture of the cake.
My comment: It actually looks recognizable! I am very impressed. A nice finishing touch would have been tiny likeness of Leonardo DiCaprio slowly drowning in the icing :)
His reaction: I was going to put sour-patch kids (like gummy bears) floating dead in the water but that may have been a bit morbid.
