Did you know...
Jan. 27th, 2009 11:29 pm...that United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) exists has an armed division that "has the power to enforce the law by conducting search and seizure raids on entities they suspect of sending non-urgent mail through overnight delivery competitors"? What it basically means is that if instead of putting your letter into an envelope, affixing a stamp to it and dropping it into the mail box you decide to take it to the UPS or FedEx and overnight it, you can be arrested, fined or imprisoned. That is possible because federal government gave US Postal Service a monopoly on delivering first-class mail (that's your regular mail, including letters and postcards) within the US. And these people forbid us to pick our noses forced the Bell System divestiture! Fortunately, e-mail and the like are making this monopoly obsolete.
