And that's exactly why. Closed to public scrutiny, compulsory single-sex quarters. Need I say more?

Nonetheless, a large number of my acquaintances have successfully navigated British public schools with minimal damage to their mental health or sexual preferences. :-)

[Of course, most of those acquaintances are theoretical astrophysicists, which might be taken as proof of severe mental illness by most of the world...]

Well, that's a definition of a stereotype, isn't it? And British public school undeniably got quite a reputation :)
