no, just dial 1 and area code (but if you call from your cell phone it`s going to be more expensive)

If you have a prepaid card for international calls, you might want to check if it's cheaper to call with the card rather than dialing directly.

Well, yes, but I don't consider NYC to be a whole separate country ;) And when my friends end up outside of the US we communicate via e-mail.
