In the news
Dec. 2nd, 2009 11:59 pmFCC issued a public notice seeking comments on transitioning from circuit switched network (PSTN) to an all-IP network (VoIP). It's a monumental development, really, but would probably take years to bring about and would make DTV transition look like a walk in the park. I wonder if they will stick a requirement in there somewhere about supporting rotary phones. Might also be a good time to invest in some ATA vendor (mmm, Cisco? ZyXEL?).
But what an awful stilted language they use in these documents, makes my brain hurt. Check out this sentence: The intent of this Public Notice is to set the stage for the Commission to consider whether to issue a Notice of Inquiry (NOI) relating to the appropriate policy framework to facilitate and respond to the market-led transition in technology and services, from the circuit switched PSTN system to an IP-based communications world.
