Google introduced their vision of the collaboration/unified communication tool which they named Google Wave (there is a longish demo if you follow the link). It's supposed to be rolled out later this year but they already presented it during the Google I/O developer conference. They are positioning it as an open source development and want as much development community participation as they can get even prior to the roll out.

Morpheus: The Google is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.

They are indeed everywhere and actively trying to take over the world. But they have ways to go before they can reach the level of evilness which is Microsoft.

microsoft wants to take over (or has taken over) office computers - I would not be surprised to see Google cup warmer, Google GPS, alarm clock synced with calendar etc ...

Office computers? You're kidding me, right? Have you seen what MS has been pushing lately? Just to name a few things: Bing (http://www.bing.com) search engine, Zune HD (http://www.zune.net/en-us/mp3players/zunehd/default.htm) media player, Windows Mobile, Ford just celebrated selling its millionth car with MS Sync, as if Ford wasn't enough of a POS car without MS help, MS was one of the founders of DLNA, which is aiming at eventually taking over every appliance in your home, and the list goes on and on. MS would happily take over every industry they could get their grabby hands on and squash any competition in the process.
