Just finished reading "Dead Famous" by Ben Elton. Highly recommend. Very funny (Hmmm... Do I ever recommend anything that's not funny?.. Do I ever read anything that's not funny?.. Oh! I know. "Harry Potter" is hardly ever funny at all lately. Phew. Now I feel a lot better about my reading tastes.) Anyhow, like I said, it's funny, and clever, and well written. The genre could be called a murder mystery, I guess, since there is a murder, and an investigation, obviously, but it's also a highly amusing look into the TV industry and, more specifically, a hilarious behind the scenes look at the so popular reality TV (is it still popular?). Show described goes along the lines of the Big Brother. I think. I am a bit stretching my pop culture knowledge here. It's the one with people stuck in the same house and getting evicted one by one, in case I got the name wrong. The book is also pocking great fun at the today's hip, young, new-age crowd to which I apparently do not belong since I was totally identifying with a character described as "fifty going on seventy". That was somewhat scary :)

Not sure about the book's value as a murder mystery, not that it was the point of the book anyway. I guessed the culprit along with the motive few pages in. But not how it was done. However, there was more than enough suspense for my taste and as a rule I don't even like murder mysteries.

Oh, and it was written by a Brit, so expect funny spelling, British slang, and loads of obscenities, too. All in good fun :)
