Misplaced complements

Got an unusual and unexpected complement today while doing laundry, of all places. A neighbor came up to me to complement me on my patience. That's exactly what she said, I've been watching you and you are such a patient person. She's been watching me fold my laundry. I didn't laugh in her face, nor did I try to explain the difference between "patient" and "anal retentive".
