One of the vendors added today to my collection of stupid things people do. I found him in the lab looking puzzled and concerned. Turned out his ftp file upload to a server, connected with a gig link through a switch directly to his computer, would start, progress briskly for a while then stall and just sort of hang around until he would give up and stop it. My suggestion that he might have run out of drive space was confidently brushed aside, 70GB drive - 4GB file. Well, we troubleshooted around for a while until the guy gave up and did a df -k. He was uploading the file into a swap partition.
