I usually do this on Jan 1st, but my current book will most likely spill over into 2016, so the current list for 2015 is complete. I also decided to do away with my usual individual reviews, will just include the few I feel deserve a mention.

Recommend for sci-fi fans: Lock In by John Scalzi, Commonwealth Saga by Peter F. Hamilton, and Expanse series by James S. A. Corey (It's not yet completed, I've only read the first four novels but really enjoyed them. SyFy started airing the first season of The Expanse based on the book series and it is getting pretty good reviews.) This year Gibson and Stephenson released their new books. In neither case it is the author's best work but they are still worth a look. Funnily enough, Stephenson, who is perpetually incapable of writing a decent ending, did a better job of it with Seveneves than Gibson in his The Peripheral.

Enough with sci-fi, the next two recommendations are both British, set in London and have magic in them: Peter Grant series by Ben Aaronovitch and Alex Verus series by Benedict Jacka. If you'd rather stick with just one magician, go with Aaronovitch's.

I finally got around to reading Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith (J. K. Rowling's nom de plume) and liked it (well, I really liked the first two books, Career of Evil was ok.) I also read that BBC1 is planning "The Cormoran Strike Mysteries" TV series.
